Wild Women

By Ashley Farmer

Can I act like an angel if I live like a jerk? Can I keep disguising my sensitivity with parties and verve? I’m bursting with rich delight while you’re under control, enjoying your well-rounded personal life, your armchair book. You: an accounting presentation. I: dance a full moon ode on the beach. You grow your business. I try to appease the Dragon God by writhing around on the sand in skimpy outfits. Consider this an invitation. I consider this an invitation.

Ashley Farmer is the author of the chapbook Farm Town (Rust Belt Bindery, 2012) and the collection Beside Myself (forthcoming from Tiny Hardcore Press in early 2014).  An editor at Juked, she writes and teaches in Southern California. Please say hello at ashleymfarmer.com.
